The Bangladesh Bible Society celebrated its 64 years anniversary on 16th February 2017. Church leaders from different background joined the thanks giving service at Bangladesh Bible Society. Rev. Bairon P. Bonik, Vice-Chairman of BBS chaired the programme, Rev. Daniel Dipon Sarker, Director, Every Home Contact shared the Word of God, Rev. Godfrey Baroi Pastor AG Church, and Rev. David A.Das, General Secretary NCCB offered prayers. Bishop Nibaron Das, Bishop and chairman, Bangladesh Methodist church shared greetings along with Mr. James Tejosh Das, former chairman, BBS.
BBS GS Rev. Shourabh Pholia greeted all and Mr. Antony Sarder, Mr. Richmond Joydhar shared BBS history and activities. After the thanks giving service all joined refreshment party to continue their fellowship with BBS. We all are glad to God for His blessings on BBS for adding one more year to share His Word with many here in Bangladesh.
Rev. Shourabh Pholia, GS, BBS conveyed greetings and gratitude towards newly elected Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, Archbishop of Dhaka Diocese at his reception programme held on 9th of December. Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario is the first Bengali Cardinal in R.C. church. We are proud of his achievement and call. We are continuing our prayer for his better future and leadership for the whole world.
Bangladesh Bible Society’s General Secretary Rev. Shourabh Pholia visited Cardinal (Elect) Arch Bishop Patrick D. Rozario on 1st November 2017 at his office along with the Rt. Rav. Paul S. Sarker, Moderator, Church of Bangladesh and clergies. It is a blessing for Bangladesh to have him as Cardinal. We the Bangladesh Bible Society also proud of his calling as Cardinal. We congratulate him and pray for his new role for His glory.
Trauma Healing Training (Advanced equipping session) took place on 17 to 21 October, 2016 at Bangladesh Bible Society, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Bangladesh Bible society organized the training. 22 participants from different denomination and organizations participated at the training. Bryan Varenkamp, (Global Trauma Healing Services Coordinator, Scripture Engagement Consultant SIL International) and Megan Reeder (Counselor, SIL) attended as training facilitators.
Through all sessions participants experienced, developed their skill on facilitation and learnt how to deal with trauma affected people as well as training facilitation.
The trauma healing program seeks to address the spiritual, emotional and psychological needs of the traumatized people those who are under emotional pains or shocks. Those who have been affected with pain as a result of violence, crimes, domestic abuse, moral decadence, political unrest, natural disasters, etc. BBS have been arranging some group lessons in order to support local churches to transform the traumatized people.
Trauma Healing group lesson: Trauma Healing group lesson took place on 10 August, 2016 at Narikelbari, Gopalgonj, the northern part of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Bible society organized the program. 18 participants from Narikelbari Catholic church attended in the group lesson. Most of the participants were the women.
There are 05 lessons address in group lesson. These are:
- If God loves us, why do we suffer?
- How can wounds of our hearts be healed?
- What happens when someone is grieving?
- Response: Taking your pain in the Cross and
Through all sessions participants experienced, learnt and share their sufferings with the large group and get relief from their wounds of Trauma. All participants have satisfied and happy to get the TH lesson. Mr. Richmond Joydhor, Media Secretary and Mr. Dipankar Rema, Program Coordinator, attended as facilitator of the group lesson.
Another group started on 13th August 2016 at St. Thomas Church, Moghbazar, Dhaka. Mrs. Mary S.Sangma led the group.
Trauma Healing group lesson took place on 19-20 July, 2016 at Believer’s Church, Milonpur, Khagrachori. Bangladesh Bible society organized the program. About 45 Bible seminarians and church members attended in this session. The group lesson held on between 5 groups. They learnt and share their sufferings with their group members and put their pain into the cross so that God may heal their wounds of Trauma.
Mr. Dipankar Rema, Mr. Albert Sudip Bhattacharjee and Fr. Razendra Tripura facilitate the session.

Lay people’s Bible Study program’s Training held on 18 July at Believer’s Church, Milonpur, Khagrchori. 45 youth Bible seminarians and church pastors attended in the training.
The objective of the training is to train rural lay leaders, pastors, and key volunteers and make them effective leaders so that they may voluntarily organize Bible study group in their respective churches and make the church members as stronger Christian believers. BBS organized the training with the help of Believer’s Church. Bangladesh Bible Society trained the participants on Lay people’s Bible study.
